Safer Surfacing. The main concern for any play area is safety. Generally, no equipment should allow a child to fall from a height greater than 3m. Where a child can fall from 0.6m or greater, then a suitable impact absorbing safety surface should be installed. PlayQuest offer the 3 main types of safety surfacing, as found on this page, all certified to BS EN 1177. Which one to chose is often decided by type of equipment and budget. Loose fills are generally the cheapest initially, but do require periodic top-us. ‘Travel-mats’ are the perfect option for keeping the natural grass look to a play area. Wet-pour is the most expensive, but excels in durability and visual impact.
Note: 1 Cubic metre of woodchip/bark will cover approximately 3 square metres at 300mm depth. * Base works are for when wet-pour needs to be installed onto a non-prepared surface, e.g. grass. The additional cost is £25 - £42 per square metre. #CFH depends on type of substrate. Definitions. Other surfaces available upon request.
