Case Study - St Dominic’s School, Godalming, Surrey.
PlayQuest were contacted by the school to enhance their outdoor play
opportunities for use by all students. A Fun Trail was
agreed upon and soon
installed much to the delight of the pupils.
| Mrs Sue Russam, Consultant Principle at St
Dominic’s School (well-known and highly regarded special school in the
south of England) noted of the equipment installed: - It Motivates
students to spend more time outdoors. The equipment has promoted social
responsibility (taking turns, queueing, sharing the equipment) which has
increased their awareness of others. It has also provided a wide range of
physical challenges, promoting problem solving in a real environment. This
has improved: Self-Confidence, Balance, Hand-Eye coordination, General
coordination and Motor Skills. The therapy department have been able to
incorporate the use of the equipment thus extending their range of
activities and further enhancing the effectiveness of their sessions in a
fun and relaxed external environment. The Fun Trail also greatly assisted
the school to achieve Healthy School Status. The school would be very
pleased to have a further stage installed. |
